Swearing in is made in person in New Mexico, before the Supreme Court or its Clerk, after you have been recommended for admission by the Board. That recommendation cannot be made until after a full character and fitness investigation is made, and timing for such investigations is variable. As a result, we are unable to predict how long it will take the Board to complete its review and recommendation.
In most cases, applicants who take the bar exam will be recommended in time to attend the swearing-in ceremony following that exam. Reciprocity and UBE transfer applications, which are received throughout the year, do not follow the same schedule.
